Terms

Last updated October 2026 · a placeholder until reviewed terms replace it

The short version: JarSprout is a free book for your family's allowance. It holds no money, it isn't a bank, and the deal you make with your kid is between you and your kid.

What JarSprout is

A ledger. You and your kids write in jobs, locked days, paydays, spending, interest and goals. The numbers describe an agreement inside your family. JarSprout never holds, transfers, or owes anyone real money, and nothing in it is a deposit, an account, or financial advice.

What it costs

Nothing. No plans, no paid features, no ads, no in-app purchases. If that ever changes, families already using JarSprout will be told first, and nothing you've written stays locked away.

Your account

  • A parent creates the family and is responsible for it: which kids are added, what PINs they get, who is invited as a co-parent, and who knows the parent PINs.
  • Keep your password, your parent PIN and your family code reasonably private. Anyone with the code and a kid's PIN can see that kid's jars; anyone with a parent PIN can lock days and move money in the book.
  • Use real-ish names if you like, nicknames if you don't. We don't check.
  • Don't use JarSprout to harass anyone, break the law, or try to break the service.

Your data

It's yours. We store it only to show it back to you, as described on the privacy page. Ask us to delete your family and we will.

No promises, honestly

JarSprout is offered as-is, built by a parent in spare time. We try hard to keep it up and keep the math right, but there's no guarantee of uptime, no guarantee against bugs, and no liability beyond what the law requires. If the book ever disagrees with your memory, the family conversation wins.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and, where we can, by email. Keeping on using JarSprout after that means you're okay with the new version.
